Four Arrested After Fight With Hoboken Police: Authorities

Four people were arrested after a fight broke out with Hoboken police on Thursday, August 3, authorities said.

At 10:57 p.m., police were called to the 400 block of Marshall Street, where they saw two people arguing nearby, Marilyn Baer, a spokeswoman for the City of Hoboken said. Officers saw 27-year-old Shakeila High strike another woman, Baer said.

When officers attempted to place High under arrest, a large crowd began to fight with police, Baer said. Police called for additional units and Port Authority Police, New Jersey Transit Police, Weehawken Police and Stevens Institute of Technology arrived on scene to disperse the crowd, Baer said.

High was charged with assault, rioting and disorderly conduct and was released with a summons. Barry High, a 36-year-old Hoboken resident, was charged with assault, rioting and disorderly conduct and was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility. Joseph Crandell, Jr., a 30-year-old Hoboken resident was charged with assault, rioting and disorderly conduct and was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility. Damian Baez, a 42-year-old Jersey City resident was charged with assault, rioting and disorderly conduct and was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
